Lightning storms ended many football games Friday night that were completed on Saturday and Monday but the results were what many had expected.

In a battle of unbeaten Bay League teams Monday afternoon, Palos Verdes (5-3, 3-0) scored 10 straight points in the fourth quarter to defeat host Redondo 10-3.

The game was resumed with 10:23 remaining in the second quarter with Palos Verdes having the ball on Redondo’s 21-yard line.

After Redondo’s Noa Masui recovered a fumble, the Sea Hawks went on a 14-play drive that ended with a 24-yard field goal by Robert Baker giving Redondo (4-4, 2-1) a 3-0 lead.

PV tied the score 3-3 early in the fourth quarter, and then Ryan Wilson scored the game’s lone touchdown on an 11-yard run with 5:37 remaining in the contest. Wilson finished the game with 259 yards on 25 carries.

Redondo had two more chances but turned the ball over on downs, and later an interception quashed the Sea Hawk’s chances.

Redondo plays Peninsula (5-3, 2-1) in a 3 p.m. game on Friday. PV travels to Leuzinger (3-5, 0-3), who lost to Mira Costa in an 11 a.m. contest on Saturday.

Mira Costa (4-4, 2-1) routed the visiting Olympians 42-0 behind the passing of quarterback Nick Carpino who had four touchdowns in the first half.

After connecting with Matt Harry for a 9-yard score, Carpino’s screen pass to Brody McKinnon ended in a 60-yard touchdown. Harry caught the next two scoring strikes of 41 and 32 yards.

Koda Thormodsgaard also had a 1-yard touchdown run for Mira Costa.

Carpino finished nine of 11 passing for 225 yards and four touchdowns.

Mira Costa travels to take on winless Centennial (0-8, 0-3) Friday at 6 p.m
