Holiday Festival
Torrance Memorial Medical Center’s 39th annual Holiday Festival opened Nov. 29 and continues through Dec. 4 in a 30,000-square-foot white tent located on the hospital’s campus. (Closed to the public on Dec. 2 for a gala.) Enjoy 32 custom-decorated Christmas trees, shopping, entertainment, sweet treats and more. Admission is $5. Free for children ages 5 and under. Proceeds benefit the Lundquist Lurie Cardiovascular Institute. On Dec. 3, the Torrance Fire and Police Departments will be collecting unwrapped new toys for the Toys for Tots Drive. Parade of Lights
The city of Rolling Hills Estates will host the 25th annual holiday parade from 6-7:30 p.m. Enjoy holiday floats, marching bands and Santa as they make their way through a brightly lit part of town. The grand marshal is musician David Benoit. The parade travels along Silver Spur Road and Deep Valley Drive through the Promenade on the Peninsula to Norris Center Drive.

Advent Day of Prayer: Jesus — Through the Eyes of His Mother
Explore the humanity of Jesus as seen through the eyes of his mother in this session scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon at Mary & Joseph Retreat Center, 5300 Crest Road, Rancho Palos Verdes. Be inspired by images of Mary from around the globe, past and present. Reflect on your own relationship with Jesus and the people you love. Join Reverend Judith Lyons and contemplate images, consider scripture, journal your personal reflections and read aloud several poems by Madeleine L’Engle, written as Mary from ages 14-60. Cost: $40. 16th Annual Nativity Exhibit: “Presents and Presence”
Mary & Joseph Retreat Center’s annual nativity exhibit opens Dec. 5 and continues through Dec. 21. This year’s theme look at elements of the Christmas Story throughout time and place. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The South Bay Auxiliary’s annual holiday boutique benefiting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a shopping event featuring specialty curated donations. The auxiliary has been busy collecting jewelry, clothing, handbags, household goods, crystal, china and more. Shop new and gently loved Prada, Ferragamo, Michael Kors, Vince, Lululemon, Athleta, Coach and more. Raffle prizes include a night at the Beach House in Hermosa Beach. South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society will celebrate the holidays with a gathering for members and their guests.
