South Coast Botanic Garden hosts its Lunar New Year Celebration in February. With its winter blooms and lush green foliage, Botanic Garden provides a stunning setting to celebrate the Year of the Snake with Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean traditions. Cyanotype & Book Making, Print Museum

Through Sunday, February 2. Learn how to make blueprints using this historic analog photo process, then bind the prints using a Drum Leaf method of book binding. In this workshop, we will meet at mid-day, when the sun is the strongest for best exposure times, for ‘plein air’ cyanotype printing. We will create compositions from seaweed and other plant materials and objects. In the second session we will bind together 5 prints using a Drum Leaf binding method. South Bay Bromeliad’s, Bryan Chan

In the late 1980s, Bryan Chan was introduced to Bromeliads. With his growing interest in these plants, he joined 3 Bromeliad societies in the mid 1990s. His talk will cover cultivation, pest control, and preparing for the upcoming Bromeliad World Conference. Meet at the Palos Verdes Library, 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills. 1:30 p.m.  Refreshments will be served, members’ Show and Tell, and a plant auction. Klezmer Band, Redondo Beach

Holocaust Survivor Klezmer Band with 99-year-old Schindler Survivor Saul Dreier. Dreier was born in Poland in 1925. In 1939, Saul’s youth in Krakow was cut short with the start of World War II, when the life of the Jewish people turned into the nightmare of the Holocaust. He spent years in Labor Camps and Concentration Camps, including in Oscar Schindler’s factory. PV Bike Club

PV Bike Club holds regular Sunday morning breakfast rides that depart at 7:30 a.m. from the fountain in Malaga Cove Plaza, 43 Malaga Cove Plaza, Palos Verdes Estates. Riders of all types, guests and visitors are welcome. Just show up wearing your helmet and with your bike in good working condition. Most of the rides are of medium (20 to 35 miles) duration. The restaurants are generally modestly priced with good to excellent menus. These are social events – not races. We try not to leave anyone behind. 7:30 a.m. Questions? Qi Gong, Peninsula Library

Gayla from Torrance Memorial Medical Center will lead a 4-part Qi Gong series in the Community Room at Peninsula Center Library. Similar to Tai Chi, this exercise is a low-impact, mind-body practice which integrates healing movements with meditation. This practice can be done standing or sitting if necessary, depending on one’s personal fitness. Every Wednesday in February. PV Walkers, Scriba Family Center

Meet at our Scriba Family Center for guided stretching, led by physical therapists from Providence Little Company of Mary, San Pedro, followed by walking at your own pace at the Promenade on the Peninsula. Post exercises, walkers are invited for coffee at the Peninsula Seniors Scriba Family Center. Taking Time adult bereavement group

South Bay & Rolling Hills United Methodist Church are partnering to offer a non-denominational 8-week grief support group to adult members of the community who have experienced a death. The group provides a safe place for the bereaved to take time to grieve and learn to navigate their loss. Facilitated by a Licensed Mental Health Professional with the help of trained experienced volunteers. Divorce workshop, BCHD 

allcove Beach Cities is offering an 8 week support group for youth ages 12-18 who have parents who are divorced or planning to become divorced. A group for parents meets at the same time in another room. The group meets weekly at the same time for 8 weeks, and the same people (usually 8-10 people) attend each meeting. It provides a safe, welcoming opportunity for participants to connect with peers who share similar experiences, process their feelings, and learn healthy coping strategies. The group is facilitated by licensed professionals and trained volunteers who are experienced in divorce, life transitions and loss. 4 – 5:30 p.m. Fourth floor, 514 N. Prospect Avenue, Redondo Beach. Concert, LA Philharmonic

Peninsula Committee Los Angeles Philharmonic is offering Concert Coaches bus transportation to the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the LA Phil’s 11 a.m. performances. Bus transportation to the Walt Disney Concert Hall from the Palos Verdes Peninsula will leave from the First Church of Christ, Scientist, 3888 Via Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates, departing at 8:30 a.m., and return at 2:30 p.m. Price is $175 for bus transportation to concert series, or $25 for transportation to individual concerts. Her Traveling Shoes, with Ina

Ina, the Sunshine Storyteller, presents “Her Traveling Shoes.” True stories of four courageous Black women who spoke up and travelled for love, adventure, fame and fortune. Guided Family Nature Walk

Guided Nature Walk, Pelican Cove Park

Enjoy a guided tour of Pelican Cove led by the Los Serenos Docents. Hike past the unique native flora and fauna and explore the tide pools teeming with fascinating marine life. Moderate to strenuous. The south end of the cove is a tidepool and an ocean brimming with sea life. No dogs are allowed. Free, and rain cancels a hike. 3 p.m. Park in the parking lot on the southbound lanes of Palos Drive just south of the Point Vicente Park and Lighthouse.
