Vietnam, A Journey Back Peninsula Library
During the Vietnam War, Judge King was a member of the Navy Seabees, the U.S. Navy’s construction battalion, when they were attacked by the Viet Cong north of Phu Loc on March 31, 1968. Judge King survived the attack, but several of his friends were killed. Judge King will describe the Vietnam Tet Offensive, its aftermath and his journey across the country to locate next of kin. He will also describe the emotional return to Hill 494, the battle site in Vietnam, 50 years later, with the family members of those who lost their lives. Docent guided nature walk at Forrestal Nature Preserve
Do you enjoy walking in our beautiful coastal environment? If so please join the docents from Los Serenos de Point Vicente for a walk through the Forrestal Nature Preserve. This is a guided walk which will appeal to a wide age range and offers some spectacular vistas of the coastline. The docents will be able to tell you about the local geology and there are many rock formations exposed in this area. You will also be able to learn about the plants and animals which make up our coastal sage scrub habitat. The theme for this nature walk is “Geology”. Moderate difficulty although steep gradients and rough surfaces make a few limited sections more challenging. Sturdy footwear is recommended. In the event of rain, this walk will be canceled.
