Photowalks is back with season 2
Photowalks, my travel photography series, is back for a second season on YouTube.
The show is about going to visit fabulous places, and showing viewers where to get the best photo spots, both through my eyes and those of locals who live there. My main gist for the program is to show folks how to get better photos, on the camera they’re using, the smartphone. They don’t need to go out and buy expensive gear when they’ve got a fabulous device in their pockets.
We open the season in historic Savannah, Georgia, and I shot the entire episode on Apple’s new iPhone 13 Pro. The main selling point of the 13 is what Apple calls Cinematic Mode, a new feature that lets you blur the background in video, like we do in Portrait Mode for stills on the iPhone. It brings a professional sheen to the iPhone footage, which I think is awesome. Check out the video and see what you think.
This season, beyond Savannah, we’ll be traveling to Las Vegas, Zion National Park, Palm Springs, Kobe, Japan, Oahu, Hawaii, checking out the local Los Angeles deli scene (yes on a Photowalk!) and stopping by two of our favorite South Bay cities, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. (We did Hermosa in season 1.)
Speaking of Manhattan Beach! Have questions about how to get better smartphone photos? Hopefully the show will give you some tips. I’ll also be down at the Manhattan Beach Pier on Thursday night, 10/7 for a free live Photowalk. Bring your smartphone and questions, and let’s explore together. The event is free, but it helps to know how many people will be there. You can sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/170229237231
