Dog attacking elderly man in Manhattan Beach tased to death

Manhattan Beach police are seeking help in locating 11-year-old Risabba Foss.

Manhattan Beach police on Monday tased to death a dog who viciously attacked a 72-year-old man in Manhattan Beach.

On Monday around 4:20 p.m., the man was walking his son’s pit bull on the 400 block of 30th Street when it attacked and killed a cat, according to MBPD. When the victim tried to intervene, he was then attacked by the dog, suffering multiple puncture wounds on his left hand and scrapes and bruises on his lower legs.

When MBPD officers arrived on scene, they found the victim and dog covered in blood. Officers tried to restrain the pit bull with pepper spray, to no avail, according to MBPD. Shortly, the officers used a Taser gun, a Conductive Energy Device (CED), which was also ineffective, according to MBPD.

The dog then ran through the neighborhood, and when the officers located it, they again used a Taser gun “which was effective and ultimately subdued the dog,” according to MBPD. The dog “succumbed to [its] injuries,” according to MBPD.
