Police Beat in Manhattan Beach

Unknown suspect(s) removed a screen from an open bathroom sliding window and entered a residence on the 400 block of Meadows Avenue some time between 5:45 p.m. on April 29 and 8:01 a.m. on April 30. The suspect(s) ransacked several rooms and stole a laptop and jewelry.

Garage theft

Unknown suspect(s) entered an open garage on the 1800 block of 9th Street and stole golf clubs and other miscellaneous items on May 2 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Smoking in the church

Manhattan Beach officers responded to a call regarding a burglary in progress at a church in the 300 block of South Peck Avenue at 11:40 p.m. on May 5. Their investigation determined that three local teenagers had entered the unlocked facility to smoke marijuana. No theft occurred and the manager was not desirous of any other prosecution. All three juveniles were released to their parents.

Fight

Manhattan Beach officers responded to a call regarding a fight between two juveniles on the 700 block of 26th Street on May 2 at 9:30 p.m. A parent, who had also responded, was subsequently arrested for public intoxication and battery.

Fires extinguished

Manhattan Beach police and fire responded to a single story residential fire on the 4000 block of Ocean Drive on May 2 at 1:15 a.m. The resident’s heater had caught fire, but was quickly extinguished.
The following day, the fire department responded to an underground electrical fire at 40th Street and Highland Avenue at 4 p.m. The fire was extinguished and Southern California Edison responded to the location to assess the damage. ER
