Bomb threat closes Target

Target in Manhattan Beach was shut down for about three hours on Nov. 11 while police and the fire department investigated a bomb threat made to an employee by phone.

Police sent out a notice at 1:17 p.m. that all employees and customers had been evacuated, and then another one around 4:10 p.m. that the store had been reopened.

Apple store burglarized

Six men stole multiple iPhones and iPads from the Apple store in Manhattan Village Mall around 8:28 p.m. on Nov. 12, according to Manhattan Beach police.
No weapons were involved, according to Community Affairs Officer Stephanie Martin.
“This was not a robbery,” said Martin, “But rather a ‘grab and run.’”
The men, described as in their late teens and early twenties wearing hoodies, took the merchandise from the customer display tables about half an hour before closing time.
No estimate of the loss was given.
Apple didn’t return a phone call or email for comment.
Those with information regarding the crime were asked to call Sergeant Paul Ford at 310-802-5123.

Pursuit ends in arrest

Around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 6, MBPD officers noticed a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of 2nd Street and Aviation Boulevard. However, when the officers tried to follow the car, it sped away. Although the officers initially lost sight of the vehicle, they eventually found it parked in a driveway in Redondo Beach, where the occupants were laying down in an attempt to hide. Both suspects were detained and later arrested after they were found to be in possession of stolen identification, heroin and drug paraphernalia, according to police reports. The car was also stolen.

Manhattan Village theft

A skateboard and surfboard were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked by Sausalito Circle in Manhattan Village between midnight on Nov. 7 and 11 a.m. on Nov. 8, according to police reports.

Grandview theft

A purse left on top of a stroller was stolen while its owner unloaded children from a car at Grandview Elementary School between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 7, police said. ER
