Manhattan Beach Police found 80 pounds of marijuana, $10,000 in cash, an assault rifle and three handguns while responding to a burglar alarm at a house on Marine Avenue yesterday around 4 p.m.
The resident, Stephen Scott Brown, 30, returned home while police searched the house and was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sales, according to police spokesperson Officer Stephanie Martin.
When police initially arrived at the house, they found an unlocked rear sliding door. Upon entering, the officers noticed the marijuana. After finishing their search for evidence of a crime, they exited the home and secured the perimeter. Detectives obtained a search warrant to recover the marijuana and responded to the scene. During their search, they found the guns and cash.
Brown is being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at Southwest Superior Court in Torrance on Apr. 13.
