Police nab two men for attempted murder in stabbing in Redondo Beach

Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder early Wednesday morning, only minutes after they allegedly stabbed and punched four men outside a Redondo Beach bar.

According to the Redondo Beach Police Department, the men arrested were Martin Reynosa, 24, from Wilmington, and Timothy Fitzpatrick, 23, from Harbor Gateway.

The incident occurred at 1:40 a.m. The attack occurred outside the ground floor entrance to the elevator used by patrons of the Pitcher House Upper Deck bar, located in the Redondo Shores Shopping Center on the 400 Block of North Pacific Coast Highway. Police believe they might have met their alleged victims – all Redondo Beach residents – earlier inside the bar.

“It’s still kind of nebulous, but we believe there was an argument in the bar that was kicked outside,” said RBPD Sgt. Phil Keenan. “I don’t know if they were laying in wait or it was just happenstance, but the suspects were out there when the victims got out of the elevator.”

All four men received multiple stab wounds and one was also knocked unconscious by a punch, after being stabbed, according to police reports. Police arrived on the scene within two minutes – the bar is located within two blocks of the RBPD station, Keenan noted – and officers were in the immediate vicinity.

Three of the victims were transported by ambulance to Harbor General hospital and the fourth was taken to another hospital by a friend. Keenan said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening but at least one of the victims had to undergo exploratory surgery. Police recovered two folding knives that are believed to be the weapons used in the incident.

Police believe that others witnessed the attack and are requesting persons with information contact Detective Jordan or Detective Brenner at 310-379-2477. ER
