Redondo Beach police are searching for a man who, clad in UCLA gear, robbed a South Redondo bank in broad daylight on Thursday.

At approximately 12:48 p.m., a man walked into US Bank, 1217 N. Catalina Ave., and gave a note to the teller, saying that he was armed and demanding money. The teller gave the suspect approximately $800; the man then left the bank and fled on foot.

According to RBPD Sgt. Shawn Freeman, a weapon was not seen by the teller or any other witnesses.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’8”-5’10” and 190 pounds. He was wearing a yellow UCLA sweatshirt, a light blue cap, worn backwards, sunglasses and dark blue workout pants.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to contact RBPD’s Investigations Division at 310-937-6685 or crimetips@redondo.org.

Correction: An earlier version of this post misstated the presence of a weapon during the robbery.
