Cheerleading: The Pee Wee Cheerleading team from Redondo Beach Youth Football & Cheer (RBYF&C) won a bid to go to Florida to compete in the National Championships at the ESPN Disney World Center on Tuesday, Dec. 9. RBTF&C is looking for sponsors to help support the team and has set a goal is to raise $10,000.00 to cover the hotel and air fare for each girl. Baseball: Registration is available for the Sea Hawk elite Winter Baseball Camp to be held from 9 a.m. – 1 pm. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 24-25, 2015 at Alta Vista Park. Open to players ages 7-14, the camp teaches fundamental skill developments focused on preparing players for the next level. The camp is run by Redondo Union High School head coach Jeff Baumback and his coaching staff along with former professional player and current scout with the Texas Rangers, Todd Guggiana. Running:  Registration is ongoing for the Manhattan Beach Yuletide 5K to be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. The low tide offers a hard-packed sand course that starts and finishes at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Glow necklaces and Beach T-shirts guaranteed to all pre-registered runners and to late registrants while supplies last. Little Elves Dash for kids follows the 5K race. Registration is open for the 37th annual Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K/5K Run/Walk presented by Kaiser Permanente to be held Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015. More than 9, 000 race enthusiasts will congregate at Seaside Lagoon for the 10K, 5K and 10K baby buggy races and popular costume contest presented by the King Harbor Association. The event also includes a two-day Health and Fitness Expo presented by Michelob Ultra. Entry fee is $32. A combo package is available for $52 (add $5 Dec. 16 – Jan. 29). Custom awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each category. Two dollars of each entry fee will be donated to the Jim Allen Fund, a longtime Redondo Beach City employee diagnosed with ALS. To register, visit redondo10K.com.

Surfing: The South Bay Boardriders will be holding the South Bay Surf Series on Saturdays beginning Dec. 14. The series features all age groups, from the under-9 Micro Grom Division to the over-50 Legends Division. Participants receive t-shirts and other goodies and finalists from each division win prize packages. Surf Series ratings winner receive prizes such as free trips, surfboards, wetsuits and more. Contests include: Dec. 13 – sponsored by Jacks Surfboards at 26th St., Manhattan Beach; Jan. 24 – Dive N Surf at El Porto; Feb. 28 – E.T. Surf at 26th.
