Notice of Substantial Change
City of Redondo Beach
2013-2014 Annual CDBG Action Plan
The City of Redondo Beach 2013-2014 Annual Action Plan was adopted by the City Council on May 7, 2013 and was submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The City of Redondo Beach Action Plan identifies resources available and describes and budgets the activities to be implemented during the 2013-2014 program year, as part of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The Action Plan is the tool that verifies and assists in the implementation of the goals, objectives and priorities outlined in the City’s 2010-2015 Five-Year Consolidated Plan to meet the City’s housing and community development needs.
The public is invited to review a substantial amendment to the 2013-2014 Action Plan in which the City allocated an additional $198,181.59 of unallocated CDBG funds to increase the budget of one project and to provide funding for a new project. The Curb Ramp ADA Improvements project, which was approved for 2013-2014 CDBG funds in the amount of $116,965, will provide for curb ramp improvements. The new total project amount is $207,046.59. The project will be expanded in scope to provide for additional curb ramp improvements in meeting the initial objective to provide curb ramp improvements on City sidewalks to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The Veterans Park Senior Center Improvements project, the new project to be added with $108,100 of CDBG funds from the substantial amendment, provides interior and exterior painting and improvements to the patio area and shuffleboard courts. These needed senior center improvements will upgrade the building aesthetics and enhance this valuable senior center facility serving Redondo Beach seniors. Both of these projects will serve to meet the City’s five-year strategy to renovate existing community facilities, provide park improvements, and install needed accessibility improvements to public buildings and facilities.
A copy of the substantial amendment will be available for a 30-day public review period from December 5, 2013 through January 4, 2014 at the following locations: Redondo Beach Main Library, 303 N. Pacific Coast Highway; Redondo Beach City Clerk’s Office, 415 Diamond Street; Department of Community Services, 1922 Artesia Boulevard; and North Branch Library, 2000 Artesia Boulevard.
