Woman’s Club issues scholarships to RUHS students

On Monday, May 21, the Woman’s Club of Redondo Beach issued seven $1,500 scholarships to graduating Redondo Union High School students, selected by the club’s scholarship committee. The recipients were Melica Baboldashtian, Riley Ledermann, Scott Mueller, Ivanica Skalko, Sebastian Van Hemert, Vivian Wong and Alyssa Y. Yung, as well as student Leyna Katoka, who played piano throughout the night and received a $500 music scholarship.

Money for the scholarships was raised during the club’s January 2018 Magical Soiree event.

RBPD offers canine pet CPR & first aid classes

The Redondo Beach Police Foundation’s K-9 team is partnering with PoochParamedic.com, to offer residents hands-on, interactive training that will provide knowledge and skills needed to administer life-saving services to pets in case of emergency. The course is designed for pet lovers and professionals of all varieties.

The class costs $99 per person, which includes training materials, two-year canine CPR and First Aid training certification, and a book on pet first aid and disaster response.

The class will be offered on June 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at RBPD’s Vincent Annex, 200 N. Pacific Coast Hwy.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to RBPD’s K-9 Team.
