Redondo Beach About Town: Pelican surge, homeless man stabbed, “State of the City”

Pelican surge at Redondo Pier Authorities are asking the public to not feed a growing number of Brown Pelicans that have converged on the Redondo Beach Pier. A shortage of fish has sent the sea birds landward, but experts caution that offers of human food can hurt their chances of survival. “Every 5-10 years you see an increase in Pelicans and Western Gulls on the Pier,” said Chentay “Sharky” Reid, Waterfront Education program director, based at King Harbor. B
