Redondo Beach candidates announced

The final day to file for candidacy papers for the March 5th Redondo Beach municipal elections was Friday. Four candidates, including three current councilmen, will compete to replace Mike Gin as Mayor.

Council positions for District 1 and District 2 along with District 4 are also up for grabs as well as three seats on the Redondo Beach Board of Education.

Current District 2 councilmember Bill Brand will run for re-election against Michael Jackson and Susan Kowalski. District 4 will elect a newcomer, either Stephen Sammarco, Julian Stern or Jan Jeffreys, who will replace termed-out councilmember Steve Diels. District 1 will be the largest race with four candidates seeking to replace termed-out councilmember Steve Aspel: Kimberly Fine, Jeff Ginsburg, Jim Light and Dianne Prado.

Aspel, Pat Aust, Matt Kilroy and Eric Coleman will fight it out for the four-year position as mayor.

School board members Jane Diehl, Drew Gamet, and Todd Loewenstein will also term-out and be replaced by Bradley Waller, Michael Christensen and Brad Serkin.
