Neighborly dispute

A resident of an apartment complex near the 1700 block of the Esplanade overheard loud, possibly intoxicated neighbors in an adjacent apartment complex on July 4. The resident yelled for the neighbors to be quiet and two of the neighbor suspects, a husband and wife, went to the resident’s apartment to confront him. According to a release, both of the suspects assaulted the resident by hitting him with their fists and kicking him after he fell to the ground. Officers arrived at the location and arrested the husband and wife for assault with a deadly weapon.

Fireworks attack

Police released information about a victim lighting fireworks in the street near the 500 block of Avenue G on July 4 when the suspect, a neighbor, yelled at him to stop what he was doing. According to police, after yelling back and forth at each other, the victim and suspect fought in the street. The victim was able to control the suspect in a headlock, but then released his grip. The victim was then hit in the head with an unknown object by another suspect, causing him to briefly lose consciousness and fall to the ground. Police said that when the victim awoke several seconds later, he found a baton on the ground next to him that he believed was used to strike him in the head. Arriving officers documented the incident as an assault with a deadly weapon.
