A pedestrian was killed in a collision with a motorcyclist Thursday morning, according to Redondo Beach Police.
Around 4:55 a.m. on Jan. 28, police were alerted to the 600 block of Torrance Boulevard, where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorcyclist. Though the cause of the accident is still under investigation, police say that preliminary investigation shows that the pedestrian stepped off of the center median into the left lane of eastbound Torrance Blvd. before being struck by the motorcyclist.
The pedestrian, police say, was not in a marked crosswalk, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Redondo Beach Fire Department paramedics.
The motorcyclist is uninjured, and police are not considering drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the accident.
Torrance Blvd. was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
Police are asking anyone with information related to the accident to contact Traffic Investigator Bill Turner at 310-379-2477, ext. 2721, or bill.turner@redondo.org.
