Redondo Beach Police Beat: Assault with a deadly weapon

Assault with a deadly weapon

On Saturday, June 17, at 5:09 p.m., Redondo Beach police responded to a call for an assault with a deadly weapon, a vehicle, on the 700 block of South Pacific Coast Highway.

Upon arriving, officers met the victim and witnesses to the assault who told them that the victim, a pedestrian, and suspect had an argument over the suspect’s driving. The suspect followed the victim to his residence and hit him with his vehicle, pinning him to a wall, then fled the scene. The victim was treated and released.

Officers of RBPD’s Investigations Division arrested the suspect at his residence without incident.

Petty Theft, Resisting Arrest

On Friday, June 23 at 8:49 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a suspect who committed multiple traffic violations on a bicycle.

The suspect did not immediately comply with the officers’ orders, though when he left the bicycle, he aggressively approached officers with a pool cue, according to police. Officers then deployed a TASER, immobilizing the suspect and taking him into custody.

After investigation, police learned that the suspect had stolen the bicycle moments before he was stopped by police.
