Warrant Arrest/Theft investigation

On Thursday, May 31, at 2:18 p.m., Redondo Beach Police Officers responded to a report of a lost cell phone tracked to the city. After speaking to the victim, officers contacted the suspect near the Redondo Pier, on the 500 block of The Esplanade. The suspect, who had an outstanding theft warrant, said he was trying to return the phone. Officers returned the phone to the victim and arrested the suspect.

Identity Theft

On Thursday, May 31, at 2:30 p.m., Redondo Beach police responded to the 1700 block of South Elena Ave., where a victim said a suspect had used a stolen identity to take out a $9,000 loan from a Manhattan Beach bank. Later that day, the same person attempts to obtain a $10,000 loan.

Officers responded to the bank and arrested the suspect, who was found to have fraudulent identification.
