The Redondo Beach Police were alerted to two commercial burglaries, three residential burglaries, and four vehicle break-ins this week. They were also notified of three stolen vehicles.
On Wednesday, Oct. 2, on the 1800 block of Hawthorne Blvd., a business was burgled of a speaker. The perpetrator apparently entered the business, which was open, and cut a security cord to remove the item from a display case. Another business, located on the 1600 block of South PCH, was broken into and burgled of an HP laptop sometime during the weekend.
Earlier in the week, a suspect entered a parking garage on the 1700 block of the Esplanade “via unknown means,” according to an RBPD press release, and stole both a men’s mountain bike and a men’s Schwinn cruiser bike.
Two Manhattan Beach youth were arrested in connection to an attempted burglary on the 3000 block of Johnston Ave. in Redondo Beach. Last Thursday night, the duo entered a home through an open window and rifled through items inside, but fled when the home’s occupant spotted them. Police were alerted, and tracked them down.
As for burgled vehicles, a 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup was broken into and burgled of cash on the 1700 block of Van Horne on Monday or Tuesday of this week. The previous Friday, two cars were targeted on the 1900 block of Manhattan Beach Blvd. One was a 2004 Volvo SC 70 station wagon, the sunroof of which was found smashed; gone were a purse, prescription glasses, and sunglasses. A 2004 Toyota Sienna van, parked in the same vicinity, was burgled of a purse and a wallet. The burglar entered by smashing the driver’s side window.
Then, on Saturday, Sept. 28, a lock on a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was pried open, and the third-row seat of the car was stolen. The SUV had been parked on the 1600 block of Kingsdale Ave.
Police learned this week of three stolen vehicles: a 2008 black Honda Odyssey van, which disappeared from the 1100 block of Barbara St. sometime on Sunday or Monday, Sept. 29 or Sept. 30. A 2005 silver Vespa ET4 scooter went missing from the 500 block of South Broadway during the weekend, and last week a 2004 red Pontiac Vibe was stolen from the 1100 block of Green Ln.
