District Four city council recall proponent Peter Azizi March 3 delivered a sample petition to City Hall to remove City Councilman Zein Obagi, Jr.
The clerk’s office now has 10 days to check the document for conformance with state guidelines.
If it is compliant, the city will grant the proponents a notice of sufficiency, at which time they may make copies and start collecting signatures.
The petition document would include a statement by Obagi, in his defense.
Proponents have 90 days to qualify the recall for the ballot, by gathering signatures from at least 25 percent of District Four’s 9,606 registered voters. ER
