The 48th annual Festival of the Kite is Sunday, March 13, at the Redondo Beach Pier. Open to all ages, the free event includes prizes for best hand-made kite, highest-flying kite and youngest and youngest-at-heart kite flyers.
Participants bring their own kites or may buy them at shops on the Pier and boardwalk.
The 12 p.m.-5 p.m. schedule includes a Craig’s Hot Dog on a Stick eating contest, live music by 1969 as well as D.J.’s and local dance and martial arts demonstrations.
The Festival is presented by the Redondo Pier Association and Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
