Redondo Beach Police are searching for the suspect in the stabbing assault of a man late last night near the Redondo Pier.
RBPD were called to 100 Avenue of the Arts at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, responding to a call for assistance. When they arrived, they found an 18 t0 20 year old man being treated at the scene. According to Sgt. Shawn Freeman, the man was responsive, but only barely. “When we got there, he was only able to give us his name,” Freeman said.
The subject underwent successful surgery is, as of this writing, currently in recovery.
The suspected perpetrator fled the scene. A second subject in the area fled from police, leading to a helicopter-assisted containment of the area; however, upon his surrender, police learned that he unrelated to the stabbing, and fled due to other warrants for his arrest.
The suspect is believed to be a white male, 17 to 18 years old, 200 lbs., with short hair of an unknown color wearing a grey sweatshirt. Anyone with information related to the subject is directed to call RBPD at 310-379-2477.
