Redondo Union High School was threatened with what was ultimately a bomb hoax on Friday morning, according to a release by the Redondo Beach Police Department.
At 9:41 a.m., a call came across RBPD’s front desk, non-emergency line. What played was a recorded message, offering a non-specific threat of a bomb on the Redondo Union campus, police said. RBPD does not have a copy of the recorded message.
After conferring with the school district and determining a safety plan the department “then went about investigating what turned out to be a hoax,” said RPBD Sgt. Paul Ribitizki.
Though school officials were alerted, the school day was not altered, one staffer said.
This threat came on the same day as a bomb threat was called into the Manhattan Beach Police Department, regarding Mira Costa High School. Police could not confirm if the two threats were related.
