Rialto Fire Chief and 29-year firefighter veteran Robert Espinosa, 52, has been appointed to the position of Manhattan Beach’s next fire chief, succeeding Interim Manhattan Beach Fire Chief Ken Shuck, the city announced yesterday.
An Orange County resident, Espinosa has served as RFD’s chief since 2008, after serving in other positions with the Long Beach and El Segundo fire departments. He began his career in the U.S. Army as a fire protection specialist in 1978.
Espinosa will begin with the city on June 13.
