Richstone’s Affair of the Heart means showing up for the kids

Richstone Family Center Affair the Heart 2023

Vera Jimenez and husband Brian Herlihy, of Redondo Beach; and Sharon, and Barry Taylor, of Manhattan Beach, were recognized as the Richstone Family Center Affair of the Heart 2023 Honorees last month. Nearly 500 guests raised over $500,000 at the annual event at South Bay Porsche.

Richstone CEO Roger Van Remmen, after thanking guests for their support, noted that government grants for family programs generally go to large agencies, and schools. Local programs like Richstone depend on local supporters.

Herlihy, an executive with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, added that support means more than money. “It’s about showing up for the kids. Showing up tells them they matter,” he said.

Jimenez, an Emmy winning Fox News reporter, recalled how hard her mother worked to raise her six children in Garden Grove. Jimenez’s  father died when she was three years old.

The Taylors raised six children in Manhattan Beach. Barry Taylor is a former board member of financial giant Jefferies Corporation.

The Richstone Family Center offers therapy, education and preventative guidance for families in crisis. For more information visit RichstoneFamily.org. ER
