Roxanne Diaz will step down as Manhattan Beach city attorney for personal reasons, City Manager Dave Carmany said on Friday.
She was hired in September as an independent contractor for a flat rate of $19,500 a month.
On June 5, the Manhattan Beach City Council will meet to interview candidates and discuss the appointment of a new city attorney from Richards, Watson and Gershon, Diaz’s firm. Diaz will continue serving as city attorney until the city chooses a replacement.
After a new city attorney is appointed, Diaz will continue to manage the Geoff Dolan litigation and assist the city with open government initiatives.
“Residents are rightfully proud of a community that is engaged in local government and elected officials who are committed to providing quality services in an atmosphere of open government,” Diaz said, in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to assist the City, albeit in a more limited capacity.”
Mayor Wayne Powell thanked Diaz for her service. “During her tenure, Ms. Diaz dealt with several complex, trying, issues and handled them with expertise and grace,” he said, in a statement.
