Sharp brothers Nolan, Logan, and Ryan kept bragging rights in the neighborhood at the 55th Anniversary Seawright Volleyball Tournament.

The winners of the 32-team tournament on Saturday, July 29, are the grandsons of Pat and Patsy Murray, who live next door to the old Seawright home on The Strand in north Hermosa. Bunny and Roy Seawright founded the tournament in 1968 to lure their kids home from college for the summer.

The Sharp brothers’ fourth player in the four-person tournament was Mick Bakos, whose tournament roots are also multigenerational. Grandpa John Hoven played in the early Seawright tournaments and was cheering his grandkids on from the sidelines, along with Bakos’ mom Lee, who competed in the tournament with her twin, Lisa Hoven Galein.

The Live Like Doug award was presented to Andy Dellenbach for his work with the Jimmy Miller Foundation, and other community programs. The award is presented in memory of Doug Schneider, a third-generation Hermosan and Seawright Tournament regular who died in a dirt bike accident in 2014.

The Roy Seawright Memorial Cup for sportsmanship was presented to the Del Riego family.
