“The Double”: Jesse Eisenberg is a mousy office clerk and then his exact opposite becomes his new co-worker – opposite in charisma and confidence, identical in looks. “Drowsy Chaperone”: A funny and somewhat bittersweet tale about an old timer in his New York apartment reliving the glory days of old musicals – and they come to live before his eyes (and ours). Redondo Beach Blvd., Gardena. The event goes from 11:40 to 1:45 p.m. and also features director Hidetaka Inazuka whose film, “To Live To Act” will be screened. MUSIC

Palos Verdes Symphonic Band: Under the direction of David Stanton, the orchestra of 70 local musicians is performing at 5 p.m. in the Frances Young Hall at the South Coast Botanic Garden, 26300 Crenshaw Blvd., on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The ensemble commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Morton Gould at each concert this season, including – at this one – “Cafe Rio,” “Cinerama March,” and “Tropical.” Other selections include music by Alexander Arutiunian, Carl Rigoli, Isaac Albeniz, Enrique Granados and others.
