Gluten if not glutton free cooking

Local Manhattan Beach resident Michelle Lee will be at Pages bookstore to discus her new cookbook Living Luxe Gluten Free.  Michelle, whose husband developed a sensitivity to gluten and lactose, loves to eat and cook and has learned throughout the years to adapt and now shares what she has learned in her new cookbook. The event starts at 7 p.m. No reservations required.

Custom sounds

Los Angeles-based vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brenda Carsey brings her unique sound to El Segundo’s South Bay Customs tonight with special guest groove-rock band Aurico. The show is 21 plus and costs $5.

Next stop, Rolling Hills Estates

New York-based pianist David Kaplan has appeared as a guest soloist of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and performed at Miami’s Arsht Center with Itzhak Perlman. He has also has appeared at the Seattle Chamber Music Festival, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Chamber Music Northwest, Barge Music, and the Canadian festivals of Banff and Orford. Kaplan performs Sunday at 2 p.m. at Rolling Hills United Methodist Church.

Andy & Renee are about to celebrate their 22nd year hosting their own Dylanfest, an all-day music festival showcasing the music of Bob Dylan. Tonight, with their band Hard Rain, they will perform their own songs at Saint Rocke. Doors open at 6 p.m., opening act starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Tuesday, January 13

Two years ago it was impossible to kick up your skirt, throw on some boots and get your country on in the South Bay. Mike Grady changed that when he started his own band and brand South Bay Country. Grady and his band of rotating country rock stars will be at the Lighthouse tonight for Country Night. The band starts at 9 p.m. but there is country fun for the whole family earlier in the evening. Evyn Charles performs at 5 p.m. and Tina Michelle (of Tina Michelle and the Rhinestone Cowgirls) teaches line dancing in between sets.
