Art walking
Smoky Hollow Industries in El Segundo presents a unique exhibition featuring a live body art painting, photography, and video by award winning body artist Paul Roustan during the final El Segundo Art Walk. Roustan is a globally-renowned artist based in Los Angeles known for his work in body painting, photography, and conceptual performance; ย he is recognized as one of the worldโs leading body painters, whose style combines traditional fine art, pop culture, and reflections of the contemporary world to create conceptually-based body painting. The Art Walk, the third and final of the year, runs from 5 to 9 p.m. all throughout downtown and the Smoky Hollow districts and includes 40 artists in 30 different locations. Among the other featured artists are Carrie Dietz Brown, Lee Tunila, Benard Fallon and Jeaninne Emmette at Smoky Hollow Studios, Damian Fulton at the new gallery on Main, El Cuervo, and the Flores Lane company, known for scented candles named after neighborhoods around LA and NYC, debuting the โSmoky Hollowโ at Holly Socrates Studios at 140 Main. Wear that cowboy hat
TennWest performs country/western music from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Redondo Beach Pier as part of the Summer of Music series. This time itโs at the Octagon lot where the pier meets the International Boardwalk, near Kinkaidโs. Free. More at redondopier.com.

Local poet Steve Armstrong, known far and wide as Raindog, runs Lummox Press and publishes an annual poetry anthology. Heโs been carrying that torch for a couple of decades now, but recently his car was stolen and, well, he needs our pennies for another clunker. After all, he needs to get to his own poetry readings. Where the grass is greener
The Malaga Cove Lawn Show takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Malaga Cove Plaza, off of Palos Verdes Dr. West between Via Chico and Via Corta in Palos Verdes Estates. About 30 artists affiliated with the PV Art Center are on hand with original works for sale.

It was a year, wasnโt it?

โIldyโs Dreamโ is a free storytelling event presented by author, poet, songwriter and chanteuse Ildy Lee, and it takes place at 7 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the Manhattan Beach Library, 1320 Highland Ave., Manhattan Beach. Ildy is one of our local treasures and a true citizen of the world.
