POLISH YOUR MUG
If you haven’t been to King Harbor Brewing Company’s tap room for “Bring Your Own Beer Mug” night then you’re missing a heck of a good time. Show up with your own mug and five bucks will fill it with KHBC beer. Currently on tap: two versions of the Quest single-hop pale ale brewed with two varieties of hops; “Abel Brown” ale brewed with coffee; a Belgian “California Saison” with lemon and verbena; and the creamy vanilla and chocolate “Swirly” served on nitro (beer geek speak for a process that creates beer that is more malty than hoppy.) Best part? The patron with the funniest mug (cup, not face) wins a growler of a beer of their choosing. The tap room at KHBC is located at 2907 182nd Street in North Redondo. Families are welcome and bike parking is available.

Friday 22nd
BIG BOATS, LOCAL BEATS
The Tall Ships come to San Pedro this weekend, and Manhattan Beach’s Abrakadabra is one of the festival’s major musical acts. Abrakadabra, fuses Latin jazz, funk and island rhythm and was hot on the jazz scene in the early 1980s as house band at Lighthouse in Hermosa. Co-founder and lead guitarist Jon Coleman brought the boys back together in 2006. Watch some beautiful vessels roll in to the Port of Los Angeles while enjoying the island beats of some local musical masters. Abrakadabra plays the Tall Ships Festival LA at the Port of Los Angeles on Thursday at 2:45p.m., as well as on Friday at 2:45p.m. and Saturday at 12:30p.m. For more information and to purchase festival tickets, visit tallshipsfestivalla.com.

SUNSET SOUL
The summer concert series Terranea Unplugged continues on Friday with Hermosa Beach’s Kevin Sousa. Beyond a talented writer, guitarist and singer, Sousa is a waterman, a therapist and a survivor of some very dark days. Hear his soulful acoustic set on the sunset bluff near Nelson’s starting at 5 p.m. Manhattan Beach’s reggae young guns Sand Section will also perform. Five Ocean Market will offer seafood, Sierra Nevada beers will be highlighted and the music is free. Terranea is located 100 Terranea Way in Rancho Palos Verdes. For more information on Terranea Unplugged visit terranea.com.

PLAY FAVOURITES
Beatles versus the Stones is an age old question of pop music loyalty. Now free summer concerts want your answer. If you’re on team Beatles, grab a picnic blanket and head to Polliwog Park to see the Hard Days Night tribute band. If you’re still on the fence, grab a beach chair and see the Beatles vs. Rolling Stones Tribute band on at the Hermosa Pier. If you’re on team Rolling Stones, shame on you. Hard Days Night plays at Polliwog Park,1601 Manhattan Beach Blvd in Manhattan Beach. Beatles vs. Rolling Stones Tribute plays on the south side of the Hermosa Beach Pier. Both shows start at 5 p.m.

Tuesday 26th
COWBOY UP
Two years ago it was impossible to kick up your skirt, throw on some boots and get your country on in the South Bay. Mike Grady changed that when he started his own band and brand South Bay Country. Grady and his band of rotating country rock stars will be at the Lighthouse for Country Night Tuesday. The band starts at 9 p.m. but there is country fun for the whole family earlier in the evening: Evyn Charles performs at 5 p.m. and Tina Michelle (of Tina Michelle and the Rhinestone Cowgirls) teaches line dancing in between sets. Lighthouse Cafe is located at 30 Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach. For more information visit www.thelighthousecafe.net.
