SCIENCE OF CANNABIS LUNCH

Science of Medical Cannabis. Cancer Support Community-Redondo Beach hosts Bonni Goldstein MD, Medical Director at Canna-Centers. Learn the benefits of using medical marijuana and how to obtain a doctor’s recommendation for it. Dr. Goldstein will also share information on the popular and scientific data regarding use of medical marijuana from 12:30 – 2 p.m. at 109 West Torrance Blvd., Redondo Beach.  A healthy lunch will be provided by The Spot Restaurant in Hermosa Beach. PROM CLOTHING DRIVE

A Prom Clothing Drive intends to collect dresses and formal attire, which will be donated to local teens in need. Drop off gently used formal dresses, shoes, purses, tuxedos, bowties, cummerbunds, etc., with hangers, at the South Bay Galleria Food Court located on Level 3, 1815 Hawthorne Boulevard, Redondo Beach from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. All prom items donated will then be distributed through Working Wardrobes’ annual prom event. NEPTUNIAN FUNDRAISER

The Neptunian Woman’s Club of Manhattan Beach will be holding “Building from the Heart,” an event to raise money for repairs and renovations to its clubhouse, which was built in 1925. There will be dinner, wine, entertainment, and a very special raffle as well as an important announcement from 6 – 9:30 p.m. at Neptunian Clubhouse, 920 Highland Avenue, Manhattan Beach. LOW COST VET CLINIC

The YMCA brings the 1st Care mobile vet clinic to provide veterinary services to the community at the Torrance-South Bay YMCA. Services include dog and cat vaccinations, prescription flea control, heartworm testing and prevention, microchipping, health certificates for traveling pets, and more from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at 2900 W. South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society Paul Klaassen, of Wiltshire, UK, will present “FOG” a program on fog deserts visited in Chile, Baja California, and Namibia, focusing on the spectacular and unusual succulent plants that grow there.
