I LOVE A PARADE

The 21st Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade is presented by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce. Over 100 local businesses, civic organizations and school marching bands will take part in the seven block parade down the beautifully restored Pier Avenue. The Irish theme of Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated by the many participants in the festivities including bagpipers from the Emerald Society, floats, horses and four legged friends from the Irish Setters Club of Southern California at 11 a.m., Downtown Hermosa Beach. The parade begins at the staging area near City Hall on Valley Drive, makes a left onto Pier Avenue and ends at the corner of Hermosa Avenue and 10th street. NATURE WALK

Linden H. Chandler Preserve. Experience this impressively restored 28-acre nature preserve with its lush oasis of rare riparian habitat and a new home for the rare Palos Verdes blue butterfly at 9 a.m. From Rolling Hills Road, turn onto Empty Saddle Road and park in the lot at Empty Saddle Club, Rolling Hills Estates. VOULEZ-VOUS PARLEZ FRANCAIS?

You studied French in school, travelled there, love the language, and you know that you want to either learn the language or speak it, but with whom? The Hermosa Five-O Senior Activity Center offers lasses are every Monday (for advanced students) and Wednesday (for beginner students) from 10 – 11 a.m. at 710 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach. $5 per class. CELEBRATE

The Woman’s Club of Redondo Beach hosts a social hour and business meeting at 10 a.m., 400 S. Broadway, corner of Pearl & Broadway, Redondo Beach.  Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a hat parade, followed by a traditional Irish lunch – cost of optional lunch, $15.  RSVP at 310-316-9766.
