MEMORIAL

The Vietnam Combat Veterans Moving Wall will be at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes. The Wall will be set up at 8 a.m. on May 21st and the closing ceremon will be on May 26.  The Opening Ceremony will be on May 22 and of course, available on Memorial Day, May 25. Volunteers are needed to put up and takedown as well as help visitors find names on the wall and make rubbings for them. Contact Kyle or Jerry Orlemann by phone at 310-725-0009 asap to sign up. MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE

Redondo Beach Memorial Day Service & Elks BBQ. The solemn observance will include reflection and remembrance, music, commentary and honors to all those members of the armed forces who paid the ultimate sacrifice in our nation’s wars.  Keynote speaker is Lieutenant Colonel Norman Lawrence. LTC Lawrence is a veteran of Iraq and is the Commanding Officer of the Los Angeles Army Recruiting Battalion. Service begins at 1 p.m., Veterans Park, 309 The Esplanade, Redondo Beach, (corner of Torrance Blvd and Catalina near The Pier). Sponsored by the City of Redondo Beach, The Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial Task Force, and the Redondo Beach Elks Lodge, # 1378. ENERGIZE YOUR BODY

Have fun, move to music through exercise designed to increase muscle strength, endurance, range of motion, bone density, and body awareness. Taught with chairs for seated and standing support using a variety of resistance tools involving hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and balls. Those in wheelchairs and walkers are encouraged to join in, from 11 a.m. – 12 noon, at El Segundo Senior Activity Joslyn Center – Multipurpose Room, 339 Sheldon Street, El Segundo. $5 per class.
