Watersports Expo

A free, Pre-Summer Expo with exhibits by ocean oriented organizations for both youth and adults. Among the activities represented will be scuba diving, free diving, sailing, outrigger canoe paddling, deep sea fishing, surfing, prone paddleboarding, sports injury recovery, Junior Lifeguards and becoming an LA County Lifeguard. Waterman’s restaurant will cater and Golden Road Brewing will pour its K-38 Lager. Non alcoholic beverages will also be available.  Socializing 6 – 7 p.m. Presentations 7:15 p.m., followed by questions and answers. Hermosa Beach Museum, 710 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach.

Movie night

Free Family movie night on the Redondo Beach Pier. Bring a low back beach chair or blanket. Fiesta Hermosa

Since 1972, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce has produced Fiesta Hermosa, the ”largest arts & crafts fair in Southern California.” Over 300 artists and crafters are featured, including painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewelers, sculptors, and handcrafters. The festival takes place Memorial Weekend (Sat., Sun., & Mon.) in downtown Hermosa Beach on Pier Plaza, Hermosa Avenue and lower Pier Ave. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Visit fiestahermosa.net for information, band line-ups and more. Seaside Lagoon reopens

The Seaside Lagoon is open daily through the summer, beginning today. Swim in the protected saltwater lagoon. A children’s play area, snack bar, barbeque pits and tables for parties are also available. 10 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. daily through Monday, Sept. 2. (310) 318-0681.

Memorial Day ceremony in Veterans Park near the Redondo Pier honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Keynote speaker is local resident Judge John Lonergan, L.A. Superior Court, a retired U.S. Army colonel. Music by the Redondo High Wind Ensemble under the baton of Raymundo Vizcarra. 1 – 2 p.m. Followed by BBQ at the Elks Lodge # 1378. Veterans Park, 309 The Esplanade, Redondo Beach. Free to all veterans, military, police and fire; otherwise $5 donation requested.
