LA Fleet week

Free to the public, the multi-day event attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to the LA Waterfront in San Pedro. Visitors enjoy public ship tours, military displays and equipment demonstrations, a kids’ STEM Expo, aircraft flyovers, live entertainment, the 10th annual Conquer the Bridge Labor Day morning 5.3 walk/run over the iconic Vincent Thomas Bridge, the Galley Wars culinary competition between military branches, and all-around fun for the entire family. Party in Hermosa!

The largest arts & crafts fair in Southern California, the event features over 300 artists including painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewelers, sculptors and more. People flock to Fiesta Hermosa each year not only for the arts and crafts but for the music! There are two stages featuring live music – the Main Stage on the Pier and another in the Charity Beer & Wine Garden. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Pier Plaza, Hermosa Avenue and lower Pier Avenue. Fiesta rescue

While you are wondering around Fiesta Hermosa stop by the Peter Zippi Memorial Fund’s  adoption booth and check out the little and big kitties needing homes. Writers workshop

Calling all writers for an opportunity to get together with like-minded others in a casual setting to maintain motivation and productivity. Yoga+beer

Take part in a 60-minute all-level yoga class to detoxify your body, followed up with a re-toxifying and refreshing brew of your choice amongst an awesome group of people. One of our favorite local instructors will lead a rocking yoga class to invigorate, strengthen and restore your body.  Class will be held inside the brewery – concrete floors, cinder block walls and the smell of hops in the air. After class enjoy a pint or tasting flight of your choice from El Segundo Brewing Company. Ticket price includes: yoga class + beer ticket. Arrive by 10:30 a.m. to check in and grab a spot for your mat. Class will begin at 10:45 a.m. Beer will be served after class and you’re welcome to hang out as long as you’d like. Space is limited. Final concert

Musical Tuesdays

Children are invited to come to Musical Tuesdays at Neighborhood Church, 415 Paseo del Mar, Palos Verdes Blvd., Palos Verdes. Children ages 4 to Grade 3, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., playing musical games and working on music to be shared about once a month in church. Children Grades 4 – 8, 4:30-5:30 p.m. working with hand chimes with Mr. David Sateren and music for monthly sharing. Mindfulness Drop-in

Provenge Immunotherapy

Cancer Support Community Redondo Beach (CSCRB) hosts Jacek Pinski, MD, co-director of the genitourinary program at the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center of the University of Southern California. Pinski will discuss Provenge, a personalized vaccine therapy for prostate cancer that uses the patient’s own immune system to detect and attack cancer cells with little impact to healthy tissue or cells.
