The spirit of giving and nostalgia intertwined at the Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach when the Montemalaga Elementary School hosted an enchanting parent fundraiser on November 3. This event saw a blend of generosity, thematic flair, and an enthusiastic community come together to raise money to help fund programs for the school. Guests wore attire spanning the ‘60s through the 2000s, transforming the venue into a kaleidoscope of past decades. The heart of the fundraiser was both silent and live auctions, offering an array of luxe items and experiences that included the chance to be “Principal for a Day,” and a coveted parking spot at the front of the school. The fare included roasted cauliflower tempura popcorn, a sushi station and braised short ribs. A lively DJ spun tunes from each era, prompting parents and teachers alike to groove on the dance floor. A photo booth provided snapshots of the jubilant evening.
