A Bountiful Harvest

The Special Children’s League hosted their annual Benefit Luncheon at the Palos Verdes Golf Club on November 17. President Paula Boothe told guests that “over the past 66 years since the South Bay Committee of SCL began, the world for adults and children with developmental disabilities has changed. There is a greater recognition and acceptance of individuals with special needs, which recognizes their abilities rather than their disabilities. There are more opportunities and resources for these individuals, allowing them to have more experiences similar to their typical peers and encouraging them to reach their greatest potential. It is the goal of SCL to support these programs and people.” Fundraising was achieved through opportunity drawings, specialty boutique vendors and Diamond through Silver sponsors. The diamond sponsors included the John Gogian Foundation and the Richard and Theodosia Shor Foundation. SCL supports many programs including Manes for Movement,  Partners for Pediatric Vision, Ride to Fly and Switzer Learning Center.
