Torrance Memorial Hospital Medical Center hosted a private reception with presidential historian Jon Meacham for major donors and hospital leadership at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach on March 4. Meacham is a former executive editor at Random House and a former editor-in-chief of Newsweek. In Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power, he writes, “Our greatest leaders are neither dreamers nor dictators: They are, like Jefferson, those who articulate national aspirations yet master the mechanics of influence and know when to depart from dogma.” Following the reception, Meacham addressed Distinguishe Speaker Series subscribers at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.
