Hermosa Beach Murals Walk

Saturday, May 11

Led by Ken Robertson, an urban planner and retired  Hermosa Beach Community Development Director, and Steve Gerhardt, a pedestrian advocate and urbanist. 9 – 10:30 a.m. Learn about the murals, the history of Pier Plaza and recent bike and pedestrian improvements in downtown Hermosa Beach. The walk is all paved and mostly level with a few small hills. Wear comfortable shoes, and sunscreen and bring  water. We plan on going for refreshments afterward for those who are available. Meet in front of  

Tower 12 restaurant, 53 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach.

A partnership between BCHD, South Bay Families Connected and the Thelma McMillen Center.

A confidential and supportive  space to share parenting challenges and successes. Please note that the Parent Chat is not a  therapeutic program, but rather a peer-to-peer support group with educational guidance from a  mental health professional.

Teen Mental Health First Aid

Wednesdays, May 29, June 5, June 12

Beach Cities Health District

For teens in grades 10 -12, or ages 15 -18, on how to identify, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among their friends. 5:30 p.m.The course teaches how young people can have open conversations with their  peers about mental health and substance use challenges, teaches the signs teens should look out for, and how to seek the help of a trusted adult. The 4.5-hour training takes place over three in-person trainings of 90 minutes each. You must  complete all sessions to get certified.
