Surf photographer Steve Gaffney advice: Stay low, keep moving

SBBC/Rider Shack contest set up, Jan. 21, 2018.

Steve Gaffney is a fine arts photographer who finds inspiration in surfing, and returns it. When surfers see him running up and down at the waterline, their surfing ratchets up a notch.  Gaffney has been photographing South Bay Boardriders contests every winter since 2012.  The contests are held six times a year, generally in North Manhattan Beach. Stay low and keep moving around the beach to get unique angles is the advice he gives aspiring surf photographers. Gaffney’s fine art photography, including his abstract seascapes, may be viewed at and @stevegaffney on Instagram. SWOF
