Shakespeare by the Sea returns for its 18th season

The enchanting woodland romance, “As You Like it,” opens on June 18. Directed by Stephanie Coltrin, this romp through the forest of Arden tells of Rosalind, the daughter of a banished duke, who falls in love with Orlando, the disinherited son of one of the court’s nobles. Rosalind takes on the appearance of a boy and travels with her cousin Celia and the jester Touchstone to find her exiled father. Friends are made, romance blossoms, and families are reunited.

The magic continues with the mystery and intrigue of “The Tempest,” which opens June 25. Directed by Patrick Vest, when the play begins we find King Alonso of Naples and his entourage sailing home for Italy. After encountering a violent storm they wash ashore on a strange island inhabited by the magician Prospero, his daughter Miranda, and a host of spirits and other intriguing unnatural beings. In this spellbinding tale relationships grow and histories unfold.
