The Surfer Walk of Fame Weekend begins Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m with a free evening of awards, and films celebrating the South Bay’s rich surfing history. A screening of Chris Miller’s “Legends of Surf”, celebrating Surfer Walk of Fame inductees since the walk’s inception in 2023. The inductees date back to the pioneer surfers and board builders, and also including the South Bay’s top competitive surfers. Spyder Surf owners Dickie O’Reilly and Dennis Jarvis, at the 2015 Spyder Surf Fest, are celebrating their surf company’s 40th anniversary this year. The evening will end with a screening of Hawiian surfer John John Florence’s film “Gravity.” The film is described as “an electric compilation of footage cut to an explosive soundtrack, highlighting the historic 2021-22 winter on Hawaii’s North Shore.” The evening will also feature awards and scholarship presentations by the South Bay Boardriders Club, and the South Bay High School Scholastic Surfing Association.
