This year’s Taste of the South Bay event was very Manhattan-centric, from its location at the Manhattan Country Club to the food booths featuring a large number of Manhattan Beach restaurants, including The Strand House, Cake Bakeshop, Tin Roof Bistro, Little Sister, Pitfire Artisan Pizza, Rock’n Fish, Brewco and Fresh Brothers.

Money from the Los Angeles Kings’ annual fundraiser goes to the Kings Care Foundation, which supports various causes in LA.

A silent auction was held with items like a jersey and puck autographed by Wayne Gretzky and a basketball signed by Kobe Bryant.

The evening’s highlight was an intimate set by the British rock band Bush, which performed several of its classic hits such as “Glycerine,” as well as a couple of covers including “Landslide” by Stevie Nicks and “Breathe” by Pink Floyd. The crowd pressed eagerly to get near frontman Gavin Rossdale (one woman even stole a guitar pick), who looked svelte and comfortable in a black long-sleeved shirt and pants that appeared to be covered by a long skirt.
