The idea for the Green Yogi came to yoga teacher Mary Strong-Sullivan in a dream. She pictured a small garden space with orange couches outside the studio. Looking for a change from her job as a journalist, Strong-Sullivan opened the studio exactly as she envisioned it five years ago. Recently, she opened a second studio in Berkeley.
The color mentioned in the studio’s name doesn’t just refer to its commitment to being earth-friendly, according to Studio Director Caitlin Jarvis. “Green has so much to do with growth and life,” she said. “It’s an ‘eco-chic’ studio, but it’s also a place where people come to experience growth and bring vitality into their lives.”
