Good News/Bad News: Frosted Cupcakery opens any day now beneath The Bar Method studios. I’m betting the cupcake shop will keep the workout studio in business and vice versa. Another win-win!

Opening this week: Stoik’s PawsNot a bear claw, but a paw. Human food. 100% organic, whole wheat pastries. Yay, more healthy offerings on the pier. Situated between Zeppy’s and The Lighthouse. Could make for some good drunk food. Wonder if they’ll be open late?? Hmm.

Uncle Stavros aims to open before Memorial Day. Located at the corner of  2nd Street and Hermosa Ave.

Last week Terranea Grill was transformed into Bashi. One of the 5 restaurants in Terranea Resort is now an Asian themed pool-side restaurant serving noodles & rice, plates & bowls, sushi rolls and soups.

FREE Comedy! Now that’s my kind of price point. Pedone’s Pizza Tuesday comic night starts with open mic aound 7:30 pm and leads into the headliner show at 9:00 pm.  These quality comics hail from HBO, Comedy Central, and Showtime. Cheap pitchers and great pizza. Self-proclaimed “Best Free Stand-Up Comedy Show on Planet Earth on a Tuesday.” Can’t argue with that! www.comedybytheslice.com

Delicious Discovery:  Lobster Pot Pie at Rockefeller. Yes there is such a thing. Gourmet comfort food. I am a world famous crust-lover (yet notorious muffin-top hater) so I was relieved to find that crust covers only the top of the pie. It’s less calories than it could be, so that makes it healthy in my book.

Steal of Deal: Free Surf N Turf dinner on your birthday at Catalina Kitchen in Terranea Resort. This lobster and steak entrée is a $45 value. Ocean view included. Bring your driver’s license as proof. Just like Denny’s, but um . . . no. Verified.

Enviable Views: The Yoga Loft (behind Shellbacks) on Ocean Drive
in Manhattan Beach.  Somehow it’s just really easy to balance on one foot when gazing at the horizon. Sunday sunset class is super popular for this reason. Special one week intro prices for new students.

Dating Tip 4:  Girls, if you must have a dog, make sure it’s trained. And by trained, I mean potty-trained.  By potty-trained, I mean it never goes #1 or #2 inside your house. And by never, I mean ever.  I’ve had a dog.  Maybe standard poodles are just really unique and can wait to go outside? This is a deal-breaker. Wouldn’t want your apartment mistaken for a kennel. Same goes for cats.

My Favorite Thing Week #16: Tiramisu at Deluca Tratorria. Now, I usually pass up tiramisu. It’s just not my thing. But this stuff is so fresh and so good, I may convert.

Bartender of the Week: Robert Eggers, sommelier at Deluca Trattoria in El Segundo. With wine tastings on Thursday nights, you get three 2 oz. pours for $6. He chats up the newbies and the regulars like it’s a hobby. Robert has achieved level IV sommelier status, yet still makes you feel like you’re in the inner circle. Found out that “unpretentious wine expert,” is not an oxymoron after all. His favorite wine descriptor is the term “animal.” True story. Ask him about being flown to Napa or France for wine homework.
