Sage Steps
The City of Manhattan Beach now offers Sage Steps, a program that helps residents learn how to best conserve energy and water, and save money.
Users sign up for the free class on the Sage Steps website, fill in details about their usage and receive a score. The site gives tips on how residents can improve their scores. Users can compete with friends, neighbors, and out-of-state for the best score.
“Sage Steps is built around the idea that if consumers of energy and water can easily measure and compare their usage with families of similar-sized homes, neighborhoods and demographics, they will change their attitudes towards energy and water conservation,” said Sage Steps CEO Richard Glassman. “As attitudes change, people will begin to use less. If they can continuously measure they will be able to turn those attitudes into actions and teach their children.”
