Shakespeare by the Sea
A Moorish general and an ancient King of England will appear in Hermosa’s Valley Park next week for the annual running of Shakespeare by the Sea. The Little Fish Theatre Company will present “Othello” on Wednesday night and “Cymbeline” on Thursday night. Both plays will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free. Playgoers are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics.
Beach cleanup
Heal the Bay will host a Beach Cleanup in South Hermosa on July 24 at 9 a.m. Those interested should gather on the beach between the Redondo Breakwater and 2nd Street. Gloves and bags will be provided.
Volleyball tournaments
Hermosa will host a pair of volleyball tournaments next week. From July 11-15, the Beach Volleyball Clubs of America National Championship will take place at courts on the north side of the pier. The tournament will bring together clubs from throughout the United States.
And from July 13-17, the USA Volleyball Beach High Performance Championships will take place at courts on the south side of the pier. This tournament features men’s and women’s competitions in six different age groups, all under 23.
